I use music for inspiration. To get into the right frame of mind or emotional state for whatever it is that I’m writing. I don’t usually listen to it while I’m writing, too ADD for that, lol, but often turn to it when I feel my writing falling flat, or I’ve lost the emotional connection. Then I’ll stop and put some music on. Lately it’s been a lot of Bob Marley. One of my current WIPs involves a lot of loss and for some reason Bob is helping me to access that state, loss but hopeful at the same time. Yesterday I did a little post on Riff Writing: a musically inspired analogy as a revision method. Not really about music specifically, but you might enjoy it.
